That doesn't always happen when the ref and VAR have a conversation with each other, does it?
I'd find it REALLY surprising if VAR didn't look at he incident and then the ref and VAR didn't have a conversation about it after.

Outrageous that VAR can reel back to cancel a great goal because a 'toe' is offside but cannot review a handball in the penalty area! Surely it cannot be because both decisions favored one of the so called top six.
As an aside a number of goals have been cancelled of late with a toe or a kneecap being deemed offside. Crazy rule as neither is an advantage, if it was a gap between players I could understand it but a toe!! The rule needs changing.

Given the way our players reacted for a couple of mins after, he would have had to have looked at it.
Swarbrick was also the VAR who didn't give Soucek's handball against Chelsea, so at least he's consistently shit.

I'd rather VAR was fucked off completely. Waiting minutes to find out if a goal is going to stand or not is ludicrious and I'm not surprised by the figures regarding fans not wanting it.

Possibly, yes.
Moyes is still saying VAR didn't look at it at all. I've seen nothing showing that they did look at it. Happy to be proved wrong, with a link to VAR reviewing the decision.

All VAR has done is absolved on field officials of their responsibility.
Lets face it, players, managers and owners make mistakes and carry on so why cant refs/lino's? Also, if it takes more than a minute to study video evidence then it cant possibly be conclusive so go with the on field decision.
In short, its bollox.

Did anyone hear Klopp's view on the penalty incident?
When asked his thoughts about it by Jonathan Pearce he went into Arsene Wenger mode " I did not see it " Pearce then responded that he thought it should have been a penalty Klopp's response " how can it be a penalty when Tiago was falling to the ground? "

But the salient point is 'use of VAR' - the complete fuckwittery of those implementing it are causing the grief
It was supposed to be a tool resolving clear and obvious errors - it's become a time consuming interference, sapping the joy out of the game and garnished with obvious nepotism
Bad workmen and blaming tools etc

Try telling this lot that (taken from the 1st page on google when searching on fans surveys on VAR).
A Football Supporters Association (FSA) survey has revealed that more than 40 per cent of fans will turn away from watching live football.
Only 26% of fans support the use of VAR in football, according to damning research that will form part of a Premier League study.
A YouGov survey carried out in 2020 found that two-thirds of fans in England believed that VAR had made the game less enjoyable.
Just shy of two thirds of fans (63%) say that VAR has made the game less of a pleasure to watch.
The survey, taken by 33,243 supporters, showed more than 94 per cent of the respondents felt VAR had made watching football “less enjoyable”.

Agree wholeheartedly about diving. I've been banging that drum for ages that VAR could easily punish and basically eradicate diving from the game if it were allowed to be used for it.
In terms of too tight... I was kind of referring to specifically things like 'is it a complete catch?' or 'is it incomplete?' where it's not obvious at first glance.
But I believe VAR in football actually isn't there to overturn those- I thought it was for 'clear and obvious errors'. However even that seems subjective game to game really. But I agree it should be used for those close things as well. The rules as they are still allow handballs, penaltites etc to be incorrect just as long as they weren't 'really' incorrect and get looked at again. It's fucking ridiculous how some things are picked up to review and others are not. System is just bent. At least in other sports you feel it's being used fairly toward both teams or players. Not in football, as usual.
